Are you a new Michigan Homeowner?
Did you recieve your Annual Property Assessment that was significantly more than expected when you bought your home?
Don't know what to do or where to start?
Call Assessment Appeal for Homeowners, today!
We have lowered the tax bill for others, let us do it for you!
Explanation of the Notice of Assessment
Because this property transferred ownership, the Taxable Value went up 50% equal to the Assessed Value.
If there was NOT a transfer of ownership, the Taxable Value would go up by the Equalization (Inflation) Factor. In this example, the purchase price should have been in the low $600,000s.
Your taxes equal your millage rate times each $1000 of Taxable Value; so if your millage is 60, your taxes would be 60 x 300 = $18,000/yr. You won't get a tax bill until July.
What can we do for you as Assessment Appeal for Homeowners?
We will verify if the Assessor's Taxable Value and SEV is fair and comparable to similar houses in your neighborhood or area.
We will identify if yours is higher than other properties. We will evalueate if a lower/correct assessment is appropriate.
We will prepare an appeal for the Board of Review.
We will attend the Southeast Michigan BOR as your agent (with/without you) to present our case to lower your assessment.
